About the Role
The purpose of the social work role is to provide specialist social work assessments, interventions and intensive social work support for clients of all ages to promote and facilitate the highest potential of functional independence. The role of a Social Worker in the Social Work Department includes ward and community based roles.

Health Social Work is a key component in the multidisciplinary team in supporting whanau through their health journey. Be part of a dynamic and supportive multi-disciplinary team that effectively uses social work processes to ensure quality health Social Work is provided to Health NZ | Te Whatu Ora – Te Tai Tokerau clients/families/whanau; whilst maintaining professional practice standards.
About you
- Social Work qualification recognised by the New Zealand Social Workers Registration Board “NZSWRB”
- Current registration and APC – NZSWRB
- Full New Zealand Driver’s License
- Health Social Work experience
- Experience working with individuals and families with diverse needs
- Demonstrated experience in social work processes, theories and concepts
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Proven conflict resolution skills
Whilst not essential, experience working in a multi-disciplinary health setting with a diverse workforce and/or 2 years post graduate experience is desireable.
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
- Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
