About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Registered Health Clinician to join our Youth Forensic team in a role where you can be part of making a difference. You will be working with young people involved in the youth justice system or who are at high risk of offending to provide integrated assessments, risk management and treatment plans as requested by the Youth Court taking into account the psychosocial issues that are relevant to their development and wellbeing.

The role is part of Te Roopu Kimiora, Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Alcohol and Drug Service, based in the Mid North.  This supportive multi-disciplinary team actively promotes recovery focused care and are seeking an autonomous practitioner, who is keen to innovate and participate in service development to join us. This is a part time role working 16 hours per week for a fixed term period ending on 4 April 2025.

About you

You will have:

  • a passion for working with young people and their whānau, along with a diverse and flexible approach, and proficient skills and knowledge, with a commitment to Tikanga Māori.
  • working knowledge of the criminal justice system and have strong assessment and intervention skills within the mental health and addiction sector.
  • hold New Zealand registration and a current practicing certificate with a relevant professional body i.e. a Nurse, Social Worker, or hold DAPAANZ registration.
  • hold a current full drivers licence with the ability to travel throughout the region.
