About the Role

The role of Quality Facilitator is to promote, facilitate and co-ordinate a culture of excellence in continuous quality improvement throughout a service within Health New Zealand – Te Whatu Ora – Te Tai Tokerau.   

The focus of this role is to support the evaluation and improvement of routine practice to mitigate risk and to ensure patient safety and quality improvements are identified and facilitated; current certification standards are maintained and are in line with the organisations strategic plan.

Responsibilities include:

  • To promote, facilitate and co-ordinate a culture of excellence in continuous quality improvement throughout the service
  • Maintain current certification standards in line with the Organisation strategic plan
  • Monitor, maintain and evaluate the effectiveness of the quality and risk management goals and objectives. 
  • Support the management of consumer complaints according to Code of Health and Disability Services Consumers’ Rights Regulations (1996) 
  • Support the management of adverse events in conjunction with the Service leaders and Reportable Events Committee.
  • Report trends and gaps in service provision to Manager and Operational staff providing detailed reports with recommendations and appropriate action plans
  • Develop and report on the service quality plan

About you

You will have experience in or understanding of:

  • Quality assurance activities (serious events, complaints and corrective actions)
  • Quality measurement, data review and analysis
  • Ngā Paerewa – Health and Disability Sector Service Standards processes
  • Report writing
  • Working with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Commitment and genuine interest in continuous quality improvement with a strong customer focus

Whilst not essential, applicants with recent experience working within in a healthcare setting; have a health related qualification and current practicing certificate, or quality improvement qualification will be highly desired. 

  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
  • Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings
