General Cardiologist – Whangārei Hospital, Te Whatu Ora – Te Tai Tokerau

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated General Cardiologist to provide inpatient and outpatient cardiology care across the Northland region. Based in Whangārei, this role will involve travelling to and working from our rural areas as needed in Dargaville, Bay of Island’s, Rawene and Kaitaia.
 
Whangārei Hospital is the largest hospital in Northland, providing secondary care services across the region and supported by four rural hospitals in Dargaville, Kaitaia, Rawene and the Bay of Islands. There is a  proposed on-call requirement for general cardiology  supported by a cardiology registrar.
 
As a General Cardiologist you will join a small but close-knit team dedicated to their patients. You will collaborate with the clinical lead and clinical director to ensure your knowledge and skills are consistently developed. Our expectation is that you will bring your specialist experience and embrace the challenges involved in developing the service to its maximum potential. We want a motivated team player that is patient focused to play a key part in the continued development of a re-invigorated cardiology service. You will be able to make meaningful decisions and improve access to specialist cardiac care for a region that has historically been undeserved.
 
To be considered, you must have or be eligible for vocational registration in Internal Medicine (Cardiology) scope of practice with the Medical Council of NZ. Essential to this role is general cardiology experience and competent in echocardiography including TOE and 3D/4D TOE. Those with pacemaker implant skills and knowledge would be encouraged to apply as this would be considered advantageous. Recent FRACP NZ trainees are strongly encouraged to apply.
