- 6 Month Fixed-Term Contract: 32 hours per week from the 6th Jan 2025 to the 9th of June 2025
- 12 Month Fixed-Term Contract: 36 hours per week from the 3rd March 2025 to the 2nd of Feb 2026

About the Role
The Duty Manager team are a small but dynamic group of Senior Nurses who are responsible for ensuring the safe, appropriate and efficient management of staff and resources across Te Whatu Ora, Te Tai Tokerau hospital sites. You will have an opportunity to hone your decision-making skills and to develop a greater understanding of how the hospital operates. The successful applicant will be an enthusiastic team player, who has a flexible ‘can do’ attitude.
The purpose of this role is to provide senior nursing leadership and support to clinical teams to ensure the delivery of safe, high quality care and treatment that enables the best possible outcomes for patients and service users. This involves, In Hours: Bed Management and resource management, After-hours: coordination and management of operational systems, processes, and resources to enable hospital services to function effectively and meet the needs of staff, patients and families, and the community.
About you
- Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and holder of a current annual practicing certificate.
- A registered nurse with at least 5 years post registration experience.
- Post graduate nursing qualification or working towards
- ALERT Course
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an RN and 3 years at advanced practitioner level in an acute care setting.
- Previous experience in a senior nursing and/or patient flow role is highly desirable.
- Ability to plan, organise and direct the activities of others.
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
- Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings
